American Airlines begin three days a week service between Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW), and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (GIG) starting Dec. 16.2010
The seasonal service resume for the summer season between June 9, 2011, and Aug. 22, 2011. The service will resume for the 2012 season on Nov. 22, 2011. The flights will be flown using Boeing 767-300 aircraft that offer two-class service with 28 Business Class seats and 191 Economy Class seats.
American also fly daily service between New York City's John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Rio de Janeiro.
American was awarded the rights to operate 11 new flights between the United States and Brazil.

Delta currently offers nonstop service between Atlanta to Rio; and service between New York-JFK and Sao Paulo. Delta is the first U.S. airline to offer nonstop service to Brazil's capital city, with nonstop service between Atlanta and Brasilia using a Boeing 757-200 with capacity for 162 passengers: 15 in First Class and 147 in Economy Class.
Delta currently offers 32 nonstop flights between the U.S. and Brazil, including service connecting Atlanta, Detroit and New York-JFK to Sao Paulo as well as Atlanta and Rio de Janeiro.
